Chocolate Picnic Sheet Cake (The Best)
I got this recipe from my mother in law, Alene King. My grand-daughter came over today and this is the recipe she decided she wanted to make. This is so moist and perfect. I paired it with a chocolate ganache frosting and it tasted amazing!!!
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350*. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, sugar, salt, cocoa and baking powder. Set aside. In a separate bowl, combine oil, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Beat for about 2 minutes. Carefully add 1 cup of boiling water and beat another 2 minutes. Pour into a greased 10×15″ baking sheet. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. I frosted these with a chocolate ganache. See here: https://keepingupwiththekings.com/2019/05/03/chocolate-ganache-frosting/
