Mama King's Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love trying different kinds of chocolate chip cookies.  Still…….I always come back to these.  This recipe makes a huge amount of cookies.  With a big family and lots of friends, these still only last a few days at my house; if that.  I have made LOTS of these over the years and still get requests from my kid’s friends to bake a batch when they come over.  This is one of my favorites!

  • 2 cups margarine or butter, softened (I love butter, but the margarine makes a much better cookie in this recipe.)
  • 1-1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons vanilla (yes, Tablespoons)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 to 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 packages milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips (I love the milk!)
  1. Preheat oven to 350*.  I usually use about 4+ baking sheets to make these.  Either spray with non stick spray or use parchment baking sheets on top.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugars until smooth.  Mix in eggs and vanilla.  Add chocolate chips.  Mix in remaining ingredients to form a soft dough that is not sticky.  Spoon with medium cookie scoop onto greased pans.  Normally, I am able to get about 20 cookies to a pan.  Cook for 11 minutes or until done.
