Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes
This dish totally surprised me and caught me off guard. McKinzie brought this over to our family for dinner. I am all about trying new foods and so I gave this a try. I LOVED IT! My husband loved it. It was a total hit with our family. So, I asked her for the recipe and was surprised to find that this dish had so many mushrooms. I am definitely not a mushroom fan. I didn't even know it had any. Haha! But, it works and it tastes amazing. Enjoy!
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 1 small green pepper (diced)
- 8oz. brown mushrooms (minced finely)
- 2 Tablespoons ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup beef broth
- 8 ounces provolone cheese slices, chopped
- 6 brioche hamburger buns (or as desired)
Brown beef and onions. Add pepper and mushrooms. Let brown for 1-2 minutes before stirring. In a small cup mix the beef broth and cornstarch together. Add the ketchup, worcestershire, salt, pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture to the pan. Cook until the mixture is only slightly liquidy; 3-5 minutes. Turn off the heat. Add in the provolone cheese until melted. Serve over toasted buns.
Tried this over tator tots. Yum!
