Mama King's Hearty One-Dish Meal
This hearty meal is chock full of beans, meat and goodness. It’s perfect for any family picnic or get-together. Definitely one of our family favorites.
- 1/2-1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion
- 3/4 cup cooked chopped bacon pieces ((or 12oz. pkg cooked and chopped))
- 1/2 cup green onions, diced
- 1/4-1/2 cup green pepper, finely diced
- 1/2 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can pork and beans
- 1 can northern beans, drained
- 1 can black eyed peas (or another kind of bean, lima?), drained
- 1 cup ketchup or sweet chili sauce
- 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon liquid smoke
- 3 Tablespoons vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce
Brown hamburger with yellow onion. Salt and pepper. Pour into crockpot sprayed with non-stick spray. Add all other ingredients, including cooked bacon. Stir. Cook on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally if able.
