Mama King's Hearty One-Dish Meal

This hearty meal is chock full of beans, meat and goodness.  It’s perfect for any family picnic or get-together.  Definitely one of our family favorites.

  • 1/2-1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 3/4 cup cooked chopped bacon pieces ((or 12oz. pkg cooked and chopped))
  • 1/2 cup green onions, diced
  • 1/4-1/2 cup green pepper, finely diced
  • 1/2 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can pork and beans
  • 1 can northern beans, drained
  • 1 can black eyed peas (or another kind of bean, lima?), drained
  • 1 cup ketchup or sweet chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 3 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  1. Brown hamburger with yellow onion.  Salt and pepper.  Pour into crockpot sprayed with non-stick spray.  Add all other ingredients, including cooked bacon.  Stir.  Cook on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally if able.
