Hard Candy Suckers
When my bother in law was young, he used to make these suckers and then sell them at his school. He was quite the salesman. It took him awhile to perfect the recipe, so here ya go. 🙂
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon Lorann flavoring of your choice
- 1/8 teaspoon citric acid mixed with 1 teaspoon water (optional)
- food coloring
Combine sugar and corn syrup in saucepan. Cook over medium to medium-high heat, stirring constantly until temperature reaches 310 degrees, using a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and quickly add flavoring and coloring (and citric acid mix if desired). Pour into prepared sucker molds. This mixture cools quickly. Will be ready to eat in about 30 minutes. 🙂
