Market Street Grill Beer Battered Onion Rings
If you've ever had the chance to eat at Market Street Grill, you will know how wonderful their onion rings are.
- 1 jumbo onion, chilled, cut in 1" thick slices
- 1 cup full-bodied beer (I used Bud)
- 1 cup flour, seasoned with salt and pepper
- 1 gallon vegetable oil
Onion Ring Cocktail Sauce
- 1 cup favorite chili sauce
- 2 Tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1 Tablespoon mustard, dry
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 Tablespoons worcestershire sauce
Heat oil to 350*. In a bowl, combine beer and tempura flour until the same thickness of pancake batter. Roll onion ring in flour, then coat with beer batter. Submerge onion rings and cook for 90 seconds and then turn. (I cooked mine longer because I wanted them a bit crispier). Drain on pan or plate covered with paper towels.
To Make Cocktail Sauce
Combine the mustard and lemon juice and mix thoroughly. Then, add chili sauce, horseradish and worcestershire and mix well. Chill and serve with hot onion rings.
