Soft Gingerbread Cut-Out Cookies
When I was a little girl, our neighbor brought these cookies over during the Halloween season. I absolutely loved them. Soon, I started babysitting for her and later she gave me the recipe. This is a favorite of mine that I try to make every fall. These would also be so good during the Christmas season.
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 whole egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 2 teaspoon soda
Preheat oven to 350*. Cream sugar, brown sugar and shortening. Add egg and molasses. Mix. Add remaining ingredients to form a soft dough. Roll dough out to 1/4″ and cut to desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheets for about 10-12 minutes. Do not overbake. Decorate with cream cheese frosting.
