This hearty chili is a longtime family favorite that comes together quickly with simple pantry ingredients. It’s rich, comforting, and perfect for busy weeknights, gatherings, or chili cook-offs.

Quick & Easy Wilderness Chili

A quick and flavorful chili made with ground beef, ranch-style beans, tomato sauce, and a touch of honey BBQ sauce. Easy to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2-2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans Ranch Style Beans (black label) I have also used western beans and it works out great.
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can full of water (from the bean can)
  • 1/2 cup honey bbq sauce (or as desired)
  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder

Instructions

Instructions

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
Add the ranch-style beans, tomato sauce, water, honey BBQ sauce, and chili powder. Stir to combine.
Bring to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm with shredded cheese, cornbread, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • This chili is easy to adjust — add more chili powder for extra heat or a splash of BBQ sauce for more sweetness.
Ranch-style beans give this chili great flavor, but western-style beans also work well.
Leftovers reheat beautifully and taste even better the next day.
