Mama King's Pumpkin Spice French Toast with Christmas Syrup
Pumpkin Spice everything!!!! I love this recipe and the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc. We serve this with Christmas syrup and whipped cream. This is my favorite meal on a lazy Sunday evening. Enjoy!
French Toast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 4 whole eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 9 slices Texas toast bread
- butter for the griddle
Christmas Syrup
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla
Preheat an electric griddle to 275 degrees F. This is a slower cook, but it helps to not burn the outside while cooking the inside.
In a bowl, whisk together the milk, pumpkin, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger until well combined. Pour into a shallow dish. Butter griddle and dip bread into egg mixture, coating both sides. Transfer to griddle and cook until golden brown on bottom and then repeat with other side. This goes well with Christmas syrup.
Christmas Syrup
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool some before serving. Refrigerate after use. This can be warmed back up in the microwave. This is a family favorite for us.
