Sweet & Sour Chicken
The first time I ever had this was when I was dating my husband. His mom, Diane, made this and I loved it. I was raised on a meat and potatoes kind of diet and this was the first time I had really had a rice type dinner. I fell in love. Diane gave this recipe when Rob and I got married. The first time I made this I about died. Who puts ketchup and mustard on chicken? Since then, I have made this more times than I can count. This is also a favorite with my married children. They all make this for their families. Enjoy!
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice (I have also used orange or even soda pop)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (can also use garlic powder)
- 1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup sugar
Place chicken breasts in bottom of crock pot. Mix all the other ingredients together with a whisk. Pour on top of chicken. Cook for about 4-6 hours. You may also make this in a 9X13″ pan. Cover and bake 325* for 2 hour or microwave covered for 1/2 hour.
You may also thicken sauce with a little cornstarch and serve over meat and rice. 🙂
