Warning!!!!! I love the look of these. I call these my poisoned apples. These are true candied apples. I’m talking hard tack candy. These are so simple to make. Here’s a link to the recipe I used. Enjoy! https://simply-delicious-food.com/poison-toffee-apples-halloween/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+simply-delicious+(Simply+Delicious)
Ingredients
2cupsgranulated sugar
3/4cupwater
1/2cuplight corn syrup
few drops black gel food coloringcould also use purple
6Granny Smith apples or 12 small apples
sticks to insert into apples
Instructions
Grease a cookie sheet and set aside. Insert sticks into washed and DRIED apples and set aside.
In a medium pan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup and food coloring. Cook over medium heat until sugar has dissolved. Then, to prevent crystallization, use a pastry brush dipped in water to brush around inside sides of pan just above mixture.
Turn heat up a bit until mixture begins to boil. Stir to prevent burning. Boil until mixture reaches hard crack stage (310 degrees F on candy thermometer).
Carefully dip the apples into the hot candy mixture and place on the greased baking sheet. Cool completely.
Remember.....these are candied apples and not the chewy caramel kind. Enjoy!
