Halloween Edible Guts

This is my new most favorite recipe for Halloween ever!!!!  I loved making these.  This was the first time I have ever used a cake mix to make bread.  I think it turned out amazing.  Enjoy!  Here’s the link to the recipe https://www.inthekidskitchen.com/holiday-fun/zombie-guts-halloween-cinnamon-rolls/

  • 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1-3/4 cup warm water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1-1/2 cup red velvet box cake mix
  • 3-1/2 cups flour

  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 teaspoons milk
  1. Combine the yeast, brown sugar and warm water in mixer bowl. Mix together and let sit until yeast mixture is nice and foamy, about 5 min. Add in salt, cake mix, food dye. Mix. Gradually mix in flour with dough hook until smooth and elastic. Knead in mixer for 5 minutes. Let raise into bowl until double in size.

  2. Punch down dough and roll into rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread over dough. (I use my hands for this). Roll up into one long roll. Cut every two inches.

  3. Roll out each roll and then fold in half lengthwise and seal the edges. Arrange in a greased 8X8 inch baking dish to look like "guts". Cover and let rise another 45 minutes.

  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 25-30 minutes (or until rolls are 190 degrees). While baking, whisk together glaze ingredients and then spread over hot rolls. Enjoy!
